💚Women Supporting Women: A Delicious Week Baking for Three Sisters Coffee ☕
One of the greatest joys of running my cottage home bakery is connecting with other small businesses—especially women-owned ones who, like me, are pouring their hearts into their craft. This past holiday season, I had the opportunity to do just that.
It all started when I participated in a cozy Christmas market hosted by Kristen Sagona, owner of Three Sisters Coffee in Burbank, CA. Kristen and I instantly clicked, and to my delight, she asked if I’d be interested in baking for the shop the week after Christmas while her regular baker was on a well-deserved break. Her only request? “Have fun with it. Try new things.”
And that’s exactly what I did.
She was kind enough to share the types of baked goods her customers typically enjoy, but gave me the freedom to be creative and bring my own twist to the coffee shop classics. So I thought, what would I love to see in a coffee shop bakery case?
I started with jumbo muffins—because who doesn’t love a generous muffin with their morning coffee? But I didn’t go with just the usual flavors. I introduced some fun and unexpected ones like Miso Banana Nut, Glorious Morning, Shoo Fly, and Honey Mustard Cheddar. Of course, I also included some tried-and-true favorites for the traditionalists.
Kristen also asked for savory options, so I got to experimenting. I transformed my classic cinnamon roll dough into something new—savory rolls! These featured ingredients like: sun-dried tomatoes and jalapeños, and they’ve quickly become a favorite in my cottage bakery. (Yes, this is where my savory rolls were officially born!)
To round things out, I baked a variety of mini focaccias, both sweet and savory. Think flavors like rosemary and sea salt, or maybe something unexpected with a hint of sweetness. And to satisfy the chocolate lovers, I made sure to offer a different brownie option each day—because no matter how creative I get, there’s always room for a rich, fudgy treat.
Each day brought a new mix of goodies: sweet rolls, muffins, savory rolls, mini focaccias, and brownies. It was a whirlwind of flour, butter, and joy—and I loved every minute of it.
Getting to support another small business while experimenting with new recipes was such a rewarding experience. These kinds of collaborations remind me why I started baking in the first place: to share a big heart, creativity, and comfort—one bite (and one sip) at a time.
P.S. Craving something a little different? My savory rolls—born from this very collaboration—are now available to order! Whether you’re into the sun-dried tomato & herb combo or the spicy jalapeño twist, they’re perfect for brunch tables, snack spreads, or a cozy treat just for you.😋
