Sweet Treats at the Table Read: Baking for hit show St. Denis Medical πŸͺ🎬

One of the coolest parts of baking for TV productions? Knowing your baked goods are making an appearance during the table read—the moment when cast, writers, producers, and the director all come together to bring the script to life out loud for the first time. It’s a creative huddle with a lot of laughs, a little pressure, and (lucky for me!) a sweet snack break halfway through.

The production office puts in the request (I never know what they’ll choose—except the mini cinnys. Those are non-negotiable by now πŸ˜‚). Every now and then, someone at work will mention that “the NBC execs always light up when your treats hit the table.” A quiet compliment that made a big impact. Knowing that something I baked is part of a moment they genuinely look forward to? That kind of feedback keeps me smiling (and baking) through the late-night kitchen marathons.

This week’s menu was extra fun:

πŸͺCookies Galore:

4 dozen in total, featuring a rotating lineup:

Triple Chocolate Chip (GF & regular) – a rich, fudgy trifecta of milk, dark, and semi-sweet chocolate. Basically a brownie in cookie form.

Berry Blast – a fruity, chewy number with bursts of strawberry, raspberry and blueberry.

Caramel Waffle Cone – Caramel bits + chocolate-dipped waffle cone chunks = a cookie that tastes like your favorite dessert stand got a glow-up.

Mini Cinnys (Regular & GF) –These bite-sized cinnamon rolls are the unsung heroes of the table read. Warm, soft and swirl-filled; gone in 60 seconds.

I bake 3 dozen now: 2 regular, 1 gluten-free, just to keep up with demand!

Brown Butter Rice Crispy Treats – A classic favorite with a grown-up upgrade. I brown the butter first to add a rich, nutty depth of flavor that takes these treats beyond your basic rice crispy bars. Plus, I make sure to use gluten-free rice crispies so everyone can enjoy this nostalgic, chewy, buttery delight—finished with just a pinch of sea salt to balance the sweetness perfectly.

So… how do I balance baking with everything else?

Honestly? I’m not always sure! πŸ˜‚ Between work and life, it can feel like a juggling act—but I’ve found a rhythm that (mostly) works. I use my evenings to prep: mixing doughs, stirring up fillings, getting everything ready to go. Then the night before the table read, it’s go time in the kitchen—baking everything fresh so it’s ready to head out first thing.

It’s a little chaotic, a little cozy, and completely worth it.

There’s something really special about knowing these treats are part of such a collaborative, creative moment. While the cast and crew are reading through lines and breathing life into the story, my baked goods are fueling the room—adding a little sweetness to the process.

And honestly? That’s the best kind of motivation.

Want to bring some of that magic to your own table? Whether it’s cookies for your team, mini cinnys for a brunch, or a sweet treat just because—I'd love to bake for you. Order here πŸ’ŒAlli.Bakes@gmail.com
