From Local Bakery to TV Set: What I’m Baking for St. Denis Medical 🎬

If you’ve been following along, you might remember when I shared the sweet surprise of being asked to bake for the craft services team on St. Denis Medical  Season 2— a hilarious mockumentary series that proves laughter and sugar are the best medicine. Well, I’m back with an update, and this time, it’s all about the menu that’s been fueling the cast and crew through takes, retakes, and second helpings.

Let’s start with the standing order — the bakery prescription that gets filled week after week:

💚 5 dozen cookies (because basic blood sugar is so last season)

💚 1/2 dozen jumbo cinnamon rolls (emotional support swirls)

💚  1/2 dozen specialty rolls (where my flavor experiments live their best lives)

💚 Brownies (because... obviously)

Each week, I mix things up with new cookie and roll flavors, making sure every bite feels like a plot twist. And now... drumroll with a whisk please... here's what’s on the menu for this week on set:

🍪 Cookies:
  • Mint Cookies & Cream – fresh, cool, and a little dramatic. 
  • Blueberry Cookies – soft, sweet, and totally underestimated until the end of the episode.
  • Chocolate Peanut Butter – for when your snack wants to hug you.
  • Triple Chocolate Chip – they’ve seen some things and lived to tell the tale.
  • Funfetti – every bite’s a party, no pager required.
🌀Roll Call (Literally)
  • 1/2 Doz Jumbo Cinnamon Rolls – the classics, because you don’t mess with a fan favorite.
  • 1/2 Doz Smoked Honey Habanero Rolls – Sweet, spicy, and a little unhinged. Just like your favorite character.
  • Orange Cinnamon Rolls – Sunshine wrapped in dough. Best enjoyed while pretending to check vitals.
🍋Brown Butter Lemon Brownies – tangy, rich, and deeply comforting. Will make you question your life choices (in a good way).

🍞English Muffins – soft, griddled, and ready for the toaster. Also ideal for backstage breakfast sandwich dreams.

Whether it’s a pre-scene sugar boost or a post-wrap comfort bite, it’s been pure joy baking for this talented team. I’ll keep the oven warm, the sprinkles stocked, and the jokes just toasty enough.

Sweet Treats at the Table Read: Baking for hit show St. Denis Medical 🍪🎬

One of the coolest parts of baking for TV productions? Knowing your baked goods are making an appearance during the table read—the moment when cast, writers, producers, and the director all come together to bring the script to life out loud for the first time. It’s a creative huddle with a lot of laughs, a little pressure, and (lucky for me!) a sweet snack break halfway through. The production office puts in the request (I never know what they’ll choose—except the mini cinnys. Those are non-negotiable by now 😂). Every now and then, someone at work will mention that “the NBC execs always light up when your treats hit the table.” A quiet compliment that made a big impact. Knowing that something I baked is part of a moment they genuinely look forward to? That kind of feedback keeps me smiling (and baking) through the late-night kitchen marathons. Every now and then, a cake request isn’t just about dessert—it’s about love, memory, and meaning. James, a co-worker and friend, reached out with one of those rare stories that touched my heart.  At first, James’ birthday cake request seemed like a classic favorite: banana cream. But as he opened up about the memory behind it, I realized this cake would be carrying something much deeper than just flavor.
